It seems like every time you pit a centralized system against a decentralized one, decentralization always wins. The world is tired of centralized systems. The greatest man-made disasters of human history are as a result of one or few people having way too much power and feeling they could do anything with it. But once again, let’s attempt to compare two systems. A decentralised location Oracle, the XY Oracle Network and a centralized location system. Your common GPS.

Centralized system: Of course the most obvious difference is the fact that GPS is usually centralized. A company owns a satellite, sends it into space. You use it to access location data, which goes through the central authority first, before coming to you. Ultimately, they have absolute power on your location data, even before you access it. Concentrating all power in one place has never been a good idea. It makes Targeted attacks easier. 🎯. Even if not attacked, Sometimes the GPS signals are not accurate due to some obstacles to the signals such as buildings, trees and sometimes by extreme atmospheric conditions such as geomagnetic storms. With decentralization comes the refreshing idea of XYO, which is immune to all of these problems facing centralized GPS systems. If an obstacle is blocking one source of location data, there are others to do the job. Of course, because of the various sources of this information, location will generally be much more precise on the XYO Network than GPS.

Just Hack It: Having a problem with a GPS regulated system?. Just hack it. It really is that simple. Seriously. How hard do you think it is to hack the GPS signal of, say your phone, and spoof it to show a different location? Not very hard I tell you. I can do it. You can do it too. All you have to do is download a simple app from the play store and tweak a few things. You can find full instructions here. Now why do you think it is that easy to tweak GPS signal?. Its simply because the GPS signal is coming from one single source. Scramble that, and you’re done. But what if the location data was coming from hundreds or thousands of different devices?. Would you hack 100 devices?. Only to have another hundred take their place?. Truth is, XYO is superior to GPS in this regard for the simple purpose of the fact that it is virtually impossible to hack.

Not just location: Although the main purpose of XYO Network is its ability to determine accurate location information of an object, it certainly offers a lot more. For developers and smart contract creators, it allows them to interact with the real world, similar to what they would do with an API, using actual locations to set up smart contracts, and even be able to build dapps on the network by Q3-Q4 2018 when the XY team will launch XY Oracle Main Network Web Application (GAMMA)

It also allows for people like you and me to make some money passively in the form of XYO tokens by simply owning a location data device through a process called mining. In this instance, you set your device at a strategic location, and when it provides information about a certain object, you get paid for it. Simple as that.
If this were a boxing round, I’d say XYO wins by Knockout.
