It does last longer than the expiration date but from the prospect selling the good at a high price, I doubt you'll find any willing buyers that will risk it. I'm think of holding some for 1-2 years if I intend to sell it for small personal consumption or barter with neighbors. But generally, I'm only looking at the practice as trying to save up from future food costs.
