The film has an excellent, sensitive plot; when the actors pour their souls into it, the result is a truly captivating movie that leaves you thinking about the ending.
The production values look great; sometimes, small-budget films turn out to be real gems.

I’d like to recommend a classic [ When man love a woman] that also tackles this subject—perhaps not from a critical standpoint, since the mother doesn't lose custody, but it does show the risks of alcoholism for a protective parent. Yet love conquers all, and for someone who truly wants to change for their own well-being and that of their family, a happy ending is always possible.
