A few weeks ago I told you about Luigi and his treatment, how the gingivitis did not allow him to eat well and how he improved thanks to the treatment that was applied, he gained weight, he was happy and ate as he usually does, since I have known him he has shown to have a voracious appetite.

But about two or three weeks after the treatment he had a setback and is the same or I do not know if worse, to the point of being afraid to eat, he has shown to have appetite, but does not dare to eat, he is even afraid to see the plate and runs away when he sees or smells it and when he dares to eat when he feels some discomfort he stops eating and makes horrible sounds and leaves.

Because of all the above I decided to take him to the vet today to be evaluated and to know definitively how strong the gingivitis is and if they would change the antibiotic or something else.

After struggling a lot to catch the patient, we arrived at the vet and when the vet examined his mouth he told me that his gingivitis was very, very critical and strong, in fact his gums look exaggeratedly red, the vet told me that the most affected area is his molars and that the pain he must feel is horrible.

Now, in view that the previous treatment only had effect for 15 days or more, the vet decided to change the antibiotic for one of broad spectrum Ampicillin Sulbactam accompanied by an anti-inflammatory and to do the treatment twice a day for 15 days and also after the week of carnivals he will do a dental cleaning to help him in his process, in fact he mentioned that it is possible to remove some teeth if they are very affected.

As you can see in the pictures, this cat is currently very dirty, because he does not even want to groom himself, as it also bothers him and after weighing him in the consultation I realized how much weight he has lost, he is weighing scarcely 2.750 kilos, very little for his size.

Already today in the same consultation he was given his first treatment and tonight is his second dose, it will be, as I mentioned 15 days with the purpose of really helping him, I owe you the photos of the consultation, because the truth is that the vet was alone and I had to act as a veterinary assistant, because Luigi became a little aggressive when he realized where he was.

Hace ya unas semanas les conté de Luigi y su tratamiento, de como la gingivitis no le permitía comer bien y como mejoro gracias al tratamiento que se le aplicó gano peso, estaba feliz comía como él suele hacerlo, ya que desde que lo conozco ha demostrado tener un apetito voraz.

Pero unas dos o tres semanas después del tratamiento tuvo un retroceso y está igual o no sé si peor, al punto de tenerle miedo a comer, ha mostrado tener apetito, pero no se atreve a comer, le da hasta miedo ver el plato y sale corriendo al verlo u olerlo y cuando se arriesga a comer en lo que siente algo de molestia deja de comer hace sonidos horribles y se va.

Por todo anterior decidí llevarlo al veterinario el día de hoy para que lo evaluaran y saber definitivamente que tan fuerte está la gingivitis y si le cambiarían el antibiótico o algo más.

Tras luchar mucho para atrapar al paciente, llegamos al veterinario y cuando el veterinario examino su boca me dijo que su gingivitis era muy, muy crítica y fuerte, de hecho sus encías lucen exageradamente rojas, el veterinario me dijo que la zona más afectada son sus muelas y que el dolor que debe sentir es horrible.

Ahora bien, en vista de que el tratamiento anterior solo tuvo efecto por unos 15 días o más, el veterinario decidido cambiar el antibiótico por uno de amplio espectro Ampicilina Sulbactam acompañado de un antiinflamatorio y hacer el tratamiento dos veces el día por 15 días y además luego de la semana de carnavales le hará una limpieza dental para ayudarlo en su proceso, de hecho menciono que es posible que retire algunas piezas dentales de estar muy afectadas.

Como pueden ver en las fotografías, este gato está actualmente muy sucio, pues no desea ni acicalarse, ya que también le molesta y tras pesarlo en la consulta me di cuanta de cuanto peso ha perdido está pesando escasos 2.750 kilos, muy poco para su tamaño.

Ya hoy en la misma consulta se le administró su primer tratamiento y esta noche toca su segunda dosis, serán, como ya mencioné 15 días con el propósito de ayudarlo realmente, les debo las fotos de la consulta, porque la verdad el veterinario estaba solo y me toco hacer las veces de auxiliar veterinario, porque Luigi se puso un poco agresivo cuando se dio cuenta de donde estaba.
