Buena muerte (Eutanasia) / Good death (Euthanasia)

Mi amiga Violeta se acaba de mudar y no se percató de que en su nuevo hogar había una ventana abierta sin protección cerca de una repisa a la que sus gatos podrían tener acceso fácilmente, así se subió Capuchino allí y se lanzó desdé el piso 5.

Obviamente cuando ella se percató la ayudamos a buscar el gato y una compañera nos informo de un gato siamés que habían dejado abonando en una Centro Veterinario Integral de Misión Nevado, acudimos rápidamente a ver si era su gato, pero nos encontramos con una pequeña bebé siamesa que dejaron a su suerte dando la información de que había caído de un piso 1, aunque no era el gato que estábamos buscando, al verla en tan mal estado decidimos llevarla a una clínica veterinaria privada para ayudarla. Pero tras la evaluación médica y realizarle unas radriogafrias, el veterinario nos informo que la pequeña bebé tenía dos fracturas de Cráneo, que la inflamación en su cerebro era mucha y por ello su extraña postura y movimientos. La bebé estaba sufriendo de mucho dolor y era poco probable primero que se salvará y de hacerlo el porcentaje de probabilidad que tuviera problemas neurológicos, era muy, muy alto, así se tomó la triste, pero necesaria decisión de aplicar la eutanasia.

Eutanasia

La eutanasia animal (del griego "buena muerte") es el acto de permitir la muerte mediante la supresión de medidas médicas extremas y/o aplicar la muerte indolora a un animal que sufre una situación penosa o una enfermedad agónica o incurable o de difícil recuperación.Los métodos de eutanasia están diseñados para causar el mínimo dolor y estrés.

En el caso particular de mi país Venezuela, la eutanasia solo puede ser aplicada a los animales por cuatro motivos o razones y además se encuentra regulada por ley, especificamente por la Ley para la Fauna Doméstica Libre y en Cautiverio (LPFDLC) y el Código Penal Venezolano. Las cuatro situaciónes en las que se permite eutanasia son:

La eutanasia a un animal como última opción , cuando se hayan agotado otras alternativas, eso ante patologías que impidan su recuperación. (art. 6 LPFDLC).
La muerte de animales por consumo humano, bajo normas sanitarias, sin dolor, ni sufrimiento (art. 9, 44 LPFDLC).
La muerte de animales sometidos a experimentación y que resulten afectados de manera irreversible por los mismos. (54 LPFDLC).
La muerte de animales por razones zoonóticas, epidemias, situaciones críticas de salud pública decretadas estás sólo por el Estado, (art. 58 LPFDLC)

Ahora bien, porque traigo a colación este tema, he visto muy de cerca personas, si es que así se les puede llamar , levar a sus perros y gatos a una clínica veterinaria y solicitar se les aplique la Eutanasia porque se van del país y no lo van a llevar, algunos no están dispuestos a pagar los gastos que podría implicar llevarse al que durante años estuvo a tu lado y te brindo amor, otros se escudan diciéndo que no los pueden dejar al cuidado de alguien o darlos en adopción, porque nadie los va a querer y cuidar como ellos lo hacen.

De la misma manera existen los que se hacen llamar protecciónistas o animalistas y no lo son, que parecen tener un detector para casos graves y o críticos, los acojen bajo su supuesto resguardo y en lo que el animalito deja de generar ingresos, lo llevan a una clínica veterinaria para que lo duerman, por seres como éstos es que dudan de la labor de otros que procuramos el bien de los animales que rescatamos y ayudamos.

Esto del lado de los tenedores, pero ¿Que podemos decidir de los veterinarios que se prestan para estos servicios?, conociéndo que en Venezuela la eutanasia animal, esta regulado por ley.

Conozco también el otro extremo, personas que por estar en contra de la eutanasia dejan o prolongan la agonía de un animal con la excusa de que están luchando para salvarle la vida.

Yo considero que mientras el animal de compañía llámase, perro, gato , hamster, entre otros, muestre que quiere vivir, se alimente, se acicale, y no sea evidente que se entregó a morir, pues hay que luchar, pero si es notorio que el animalito en cuestión, ya se entregó y su estado clínico es cada vez peor, pues hay que dejarlos ir y no enterrar un despojo por el egoísmo de querer mantenerlo a nuestro lado.

Se que no es una decisión fácil y los que han sido valientes muchas veces los dejan sólos en ese último momento, yo particularmente he estado allí y le hable a mi querido peludo le dí las gracias por todo el amor y felicidad que me brindó en el tiempo que compartió conmigo. Este es un tema que crea mucha, pero mucha controversia, entre los que amamos a los animales , no se, pero a mí me gustaría leer sus opiniones acerca de este tema en los comentarios, así me retiro, un cálido abrazo para ustedes.

Obviously when she noticed it we helped her to look for the cat and a colleague informed us of a Siamese cat that had been left paying in an Integral Veterinary Center in Misión Nevado, we went quickly to see if it was her cat, but we found a little baby Siamese that was left to her fate giving the information that she had fallen from a floor 1, although it was not the cat we were looking for, when we saw her in such a bad state we decided to take her to a private veterinary clinic to help her. But after the medical evaluation and some x-rays, the vet informed us that the little baby had two skull fractures, that the swelling in her brain was very bad and that was the reason for her strange posture and movements. The baby was suffering from a lot of pain and it was unlikely that she would be saved and if she was, the percentage of probability that she would have neurological problems was very, very high, so the sad but necessary decision to euthanize her was taken.

Animal euthanasia (Greek for "good death") is the act of allowing death by suppressing extreme medical measures and/or applying painless death to an animal suffering from a distressing situation or an agonizing or incurable or difficult-to-recover disease.Euthanasia methods are designed to cause the least pain and stress.

In the particular case of my country Venezuela, euthanasia can only be applied to animals for four motives or reasons and it is also regulated by law, specifically by the Law for Free and Captive Domestic Fauna (LPFDLC) and the Venezuelan Penal Code. The four situations in which euthanasia is allowed are:

Euthanasia of an animal as a last option, when other alternatives have been exhausted, that is, when there are pathologies that prevent its recovery. (art. 6 LPFDLC).
The death of animals for human consumption, under sanitary norms, without pain or suffering (art. 9, 44 LPFDLC).
The death of animals subjected to experimentation and that are irreversibly affected by the same. (54 LPFDLC).
The death of animals for zoonotic reasons, epidemics, critical situations of public health decreed only by the State, (art. 58 LPFDLC).

Now, because I bring up this issue, I have seen very closely people, if you can call them that, take their dogs and cats to a veterinary clinic and ask them to be Euthanized because they are leaving the country and they will not take them, some are not willing to pay the expenses that could involve taking the one that for years was by your side and gave you love, others shield themselves by saying that they can not leave them in the care of someone or give them up for adoption, because no one will love and care for them as they do.

In the same way there are those who call themselves protectionists or animal lovers and they are not, they seem to have a detector for serious or critical cases, they take them under their supposed protection and when the animal stops generating income, they take it to a veterinary clinic to be put to sleep, because of beings like these is that they doubt the work of others who seek the good of the animals that we rescue and help.

This on the side of the keepers, but what can we decide about the veterinarians who provide these services, knowing that in Venezuela animal euthanasia is regulated by law.

I also know the other extreme, people who for being against euthanasia leave or prolong the agony of an animal with the excuse that they are fighting to save its life.

I believe that as long as the pet, be it a dog, cat, hamster, among others, shows that it wants to live, is fed, groomed, and it is not evident that it has given itself up to die, then we must fight, but if it is notorious that the animal in question has already given itself up and its clinical condition is getting worse, then we must let it go and not bury a spoil for the selfishness of wanting to keep it by our side.

I know it is not an easy decision and those who have been brave often leave them alone at that last moment, I particularly have been there and I spoke to my dear furry one and thanked him for all the love and happiness he gave me during the time he shared with me. If he is leaving this world, accompany him to the end, as he would have done with you.
