To this day it's still crazy to think that the Wii was the closest to light-gun games being easily accessible on a console without buying a peripheral or a CRT thanks to how it has the Wii Remote, and yet the amount of light gun games on it wasn't actually that high (2 from Capcom, 5 arcade ports from SEGA + the Wii original HOTD Overkill, and a couple others that seem to enter shovelware territory).
On that note, I still wish that the local arcade that used to be here had at least ONE light gun game during its lifespan so that I could say I've tried one on a real cabinet, but unfortunately that never happened, so to this day it might only happen the (far in the distance future) day I get to travel another city and I have luck that there's any surviving arcade there - let alone a lightgun game on it.
I definitely feel that games like these will always likely be the best (unless you can't look at rapidly flashing lights because most old light gun games will flash on each shot/reload) on the arcades with light guns...which is the whole reason why they basically went extinct overall (and the HOTD Remakes are an unfortunate example case of how adapting one to modern consoles isn't easy, although I have the suspicion the jittery gyro controls on controllers on that game is the game's fault rather than the controllers and idea itself).
In any case, thanks for your comment. I know that it isn't quite the same to play these on a mouse, but at least wanted to say that I've tried and played them even if not with a real light gun since I'm aware that might not happen in years for me.
