Hello and Namaste to you all. Childhood is the best period in anyone's lifetime. You have no worries about your job, future or any adult sh$t that make us boring. We care about playing, eating, enjoying ourselves with friends, and fighting with siblings. xD
Mine was also a nice experience at least until my parents became more serious about studying. Anyway, my father bought a new television set when I was like 7-8. Before that, we used to go to neighbours to watch TV.
My elder brother and I used to watch TV all day after coming from school while going to school and having breakfast or dinner. Any small time we could get we would utilize that in TV. There were not many channels available then but we had a channel called "Doordarshan" or "DD National". On Doordarshan, there were all types of shows ranging from soap operas to Superheroes. They even used to broadcast "News" and "Sports.
My favourite TV programme was Shaktimaan. A superhero saves the entire planet from a villain called Kilmish, whose punch line was "Andhera Kayam Rahe" (Darkness shall prevail). The storyline was like a typical superhero story. Our hero 'Shaktimaan' had a day job as a reporter to not get attention and when any danger comes, he just instantly changes into his iconic red suit.
Now thinking about the plot I feel stupid but watching it as a kid was just a great experience. We would watch the repeat shows too. My father was a big Cricket fan so he never missed cricket matches. He had a radio too in which he used to listen to the Hindi commentary when the match is on and there is a power cut or something.
Now in my early teen years, we got the cable tv connection with many more channels and the cartoon network was the best and almost the only channel exclusively for content related to kids. I remember watching "Tom and Jerry" and was a big fan of that show. I can even watch that show, which is a huge compliment to the show itself.
I used to watch Pokemon, Digimon, Bayblade, Doraemon and many others. One of my personal favourites was "Courage: The cowardly dog" if I remember the name correctly. "Courage" was a coward as a dog but always tries to help the old couple and do almost everything to get rid of the ghosts and devils etc. That was a fun show. xD
Well, I have watched many cartoon shows but never watched anime as an adult. Maybe I will start one if I get the time. 馃槄
