Everpedia is basically a Blockchain wikipedia where all submissions edits and even stuff that gets deleted is all saved on the blockchain just like how every post edit and even deleted posts are all saved on the Steem blockchain.
Instead of upvote and downvotes everpedia just has these yes or no votes and it is very different from steem or wikipedia: Here is an example of the screens you will see while using Everpedia, youll see a Vote button, a List of edits, and a uniquely everpedia page that you can see in teh top right of the image below. Thats how Everpedia works :D
There was a lost opportunity to create Wikipedia on steem, but people assumed the posts would just be copy pastes of wikipedia posts.
However everpedia proved that wasnt the case, and that everpedia could be filled with all the posts not allowed on wikipedia. Up and coming celebrities like Hampton brandon and Ice Poseidon were able to get their own Everpedia pages when they would have been deleted off wikipedia.
Steem still has a great chance to use tokens from https://Steem-engine.com by @aggroed and just make Wikipedia or wiki or wikisteem tokens, and a custom
@scotbot front end, and just reward people for making wikipedia style entries. IN FACT you could make your scotbot custom wiki site for a SPECIFIC topic, like StarWars wiki token that pays fans of starwars to make a starwars wiki, or SCIENCE wiki where everyone who posts about a specific type of science gets rewarded for wiki style entries, and gets paid in tokens they can use to make more posts or redeem for BTC. Honestly Everpedia on EOS is great but Steem should not throw away the chance to have a wikipedia style system on our chain! So many wikipedia users work for free, and getting those volunteers paid will NOT effect the quality of Wikipedia for the worse, it will ONLY increase wiki quality when volunteers can get paid and spend more time on their passion! Wikipedia freaks who are opposed to paying volunteers like Jimmy Wales the creator, even after being SAVED by bitcoin donations, are fools... fools who only know things ONE way and have NO idea how much better wikipedia would have been of volunteers could have gotten paid based on a voting system from readers and authors. Steem and its CURATION is a proven success, no matter how many people say otherwise.... so steem curation CAn be applied to wikipedia, because thats not how everpedia works. We SHOULD replicate wikipedia on steem and compete with everpedia.
