A historic shopping arcade built in 1869, the Royal Arcade in Melbourne boasts of being the oldest in Australia.
It also has a wonderful stretch of skylight that allows daylight into the antique corridors and lights up the doorways of exclusive boutiques and little antique shops.
Most attractive and attention grabbing is the chequered black and white flooring, which gave me the idea to make this a black and white shot!
Daylight filtering into indoors is always a delight!
And offers a different mood altogether
Makes it a dream to sit in air-conditioned comfort, enjoying your tea and cakes... while dappled sunlight filters through!
These two seven foot high mythological figures are part of the attraction of the Royal Arcade
They stand guard at one of the entrances, striking the hour
Amazing that they are still working after all this time!
