Looks like there are quite many fortresses on Danube's course. We have one in my area as well. I posted last year about it. It was built around one pillar of Traian's bridge over Danube, in Drobeta Turnu Severin. If you ever get to Kladovo you can visit it. It's pretty close. About 15 kilometers from the border of Serbia with Romania.
