I've been saying for months and months, if not probably years, that Hive needs marketing and advertising, like the fish needs its fresh creek water, but who am I to be listened, or others such as @toofasteddie that have been advocating this aggressively as well. Just a few have anything to say on the blockchain and that's the reality, lets not full us believing the other way.
There are way more dedicated folks than I am and one of them is @nathanmars who you should consider voting as a witness, as I did. Two hours ago he shared What do you guys think about on boarding crypto YouTubers/Influencers with HIVE by giving them certain percentage of $LEO and $SPEAK tokens ? on his blog and I was one of the few that jumped first to share their take on the proposal. Many others followed and I highly encourage you to read it.
The idea is that we could somehow give some free tokens as some sort of lobby to crypto influencers so they will shill the blockchain and its apps to their followers and my first reaction was: HELL NO! These people don't deserve any free token from us. Let them come and earn them, be part of the community, do the shilling for free and learn how to value all this. A great point of @taskmaster4450 that I subscribe to 100%, is that those people will for sure cash in the tokens, do some quick shills for a short period of time and then cash out and move to other project.
Lets not forget the good ol days of 2017 when people like Trevon James and others would shill any shit for some cash. It's not like Hive a shitty project, but I don't think those crypto influencers would deserve any token in trying to influence their followers to join Hive. Let both of them decide that by themselves and do it for free. Many of us are here for quite some years, earned hard our stakes, gone through a multiple year bear market, poshed the hell out of this project and still here. We don't get any free money from anyone. Moreover, I tried shilling leofinance to crypto influencers and they don't care at all.
Most of them are fine with their paid groups, with their youtube income, newsletters, occasional pumps and dumps and so on. Otherwise they would turn their heads towards Hive, and they will probably do that when it gets back to top 50. Same with leofinance.
What I'd do though, as mentioned quite a few times on my blog, is have a marketing fund and pay crypto news outlets and even youtubers(folks that have a spine such as Alessio Rastani or rektcapital on twitter) to promote Hive, but as a one time, or once in a while payments. I'd definitely give out of my own rewards to see Hive featured in cointelegraph news once in a while for more exposure. But won't make that a long term constant payment. Let them earn it...and get the taste of it, it's what I'd tell influencers by teasing Hive and LEO.
Have a look at LEO how good is doing and no crypto influencer has been delegated anything or given free tokens to promote the project. It's the team that's gone through the hard work of getting LEO in talks with twitter to offer a direct sign up method via the giant social media platform, or through google, and that's what Hive team should do, that's where those funds should get, not for secretary work and paying netuosos for doing nothing.
Anyway, no disrespect Nathan Mars, I appreciate your efforts but I don't subscribe to this approach. No penny should be free given to influencers for shilling Hive. They wouldn't value the project at all if that was just free internet money. Same as with airdrops, you don't care that much about who's dropping the coins and what true value they have, hence tempted to dump asap and not invest further into the project and respect it.
My witness vote has been given to you @nathanmars and I truly believe you're far better than some pure milkers of the blockchain that don't give a shit any longer about it. Good luck!
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
