Youtube is to be found in the hands of all sort of users, ranging from two years old toddlers sipping cartoons and children videos up to grandpa's and grannies ones, being one of the most used social media(video streaming) app to kill time with. I use it all the time and I bet you do that too. Content is not AI generated...yet though, so there's folks around the world creating it and earning $ with their content.
I read an interesting article of businessinsider a few minutes ago, entitled How much money YouTube pays for 1 million views, according to 6 creators, which basically talks monetized content and creators that are doing quite well on the platform.
The amount of money that these six mentioned youtubers, whom I've never heard of tbh, are earning for a million+ views video from $2,000 to up to $40,000. Ad Sense weighs a lot in pulling the weighing scale for each and one of them, and as a fun fact, the one who scored the most with that one million+ views video has actually recorded it with his laptop camera. He used the Ad Sense to his benefit the most he could and he seems to have done that well.
Kevin David got $40,000 for a one million+ views video
Enough with youtube though, we have content creators in here as well, we have bloggers, vloggers, photographers and all sort of content creators on Hive, and we have the best finance dedicated community which is... you guessed it. Well, guess what... some of the best paid youtube videos from that article were business oriented and those seem to attract the most advertisers according businessinsider. We do business and talk business in here as well, but we don't get $40,000 for one piece of content... yet.
Now some of you might ask is this youtube to Hive and leofinance comparison even relevant? I'd say it is, although Youtube is a fifteen years old video streaming platform, google owned, carefully organized and already mainstream labeled. My fifth ace in the pocket to play in this league, as a Hive and implicitly Leofinance content creator, is exponential growth.
You've probably read it many times before and you will read it many times more on this platform, exponential growth is what differentiates the crypto world from many other tech and real life businesses. One year in crypto is probably equal to ten in real life. You can create a whole world and build up a small fortune in twelve months or you can end up to the ground like an old hard drive. The potential is here, and fortunately the exponential progress vector is heading North for about a decade or so.
You see, these youtubers that got featured in the businessinsider article linked in the introduction of this post have half a million or more subscribers and it probably took them years and years to reach that and these are not a guarantee for scoring thousands of dollars per video. It takes a lot of time, as a Hive content creator, to create yourself a strong community as well, but it's that exponential growth which boosts one's efforts in crypto.
What these guys have scored in dollar valuation for their videos are probably occasional hits, while in here, with the risk of over repeating this subject, we have exponential growth on our side for the not so far future. Crypto and blockchain are about a decade old, but the real development, the way I see it, started about a couple of years ago.
If I were to compare my earnings with that guy who scored $40,000 for one video, I'm definitely loosing the game...short term, but on the long term I'm actually gaining traction as hell and I'm on the right tracks. Not saying that crypto will replace fiat in just a few years, and that Youtube will be crushed by present and future blockchain created competition, but on a long run... the future is definitely crypto and the growth is... exponential.
It's crystal clear for me that content creation, related revenues, its consumption and advertising are gradually migrating into the crypto sphere and it's an unstoppable train. I mean, look at Leofinace, it's less than one year old on Hive and it already has its own liquidity pool, you can create an account by using metamask or a twitter account in minutes, you can claim rewards in ETH if you want to and cash that out almost anywhere in the world, we have adds that get to burning tokens and increasing the value of LEO and we've just started.
How many major updates youtube has had in the last decade? Not too many I would say, and as a youtube creator there's always the possibility of the big brother shutting you down if you "curse too much or say whatever". You don't get that in here... and it's basically impossible to censor anyone. You don't even need fancy equipment to rock it in here. You can do that even with a smartphone or a laptop and an internet connection.
Don't know how excited and grateful you are for being a content creator in here, but I am. I missed the opportunity of buying BTC at under $1,000 but got to jump on the blockchain and crypto social media platforms train right on time and that feels like having one more chance to buy BTC under $1,000. Many youtubers will flock to our blockchain in the next few years, I bet on that with the ace from my back pocket, but by the time they'll do that...
It's gonna be us scoring $40,000 for a trending post. I know, it sounds unrealistic and that's how BTC looked like when it got from a few cents to $100, but you know what took it from that $100 to $20,000? Exponential growth and mass adoption. Blockchain and implicitly crypto are moving at the speed of light and national currencies seem to be depreciating quite fast, so what's gonna be a $40,000 Hive post in ten years from now...
Maybe that's something an introductory post would score by then. I have almost three years on the blockchain and thousands of articles written in here, and if I were to sum up all my rewards I guess I hardly record a few grands, but my bet is not on the present situation metrics, it's actually on exponential growth, and that should be yours to. What I'm also sure of, although not completely envisioning at the moment, is the ramifications in which this platform will evolve.
How many of you, who are ex steemitans, have imagined three years ago posting in a community that would grant them two layer rewards, the opportunity to jump in the liquidity pool and earn extra tokens, be able to create accounts in literally minutes, play games for crypto, and so on... Not me, to say the least. All I knew and all I had back then was Steemit, and when I look at Hive and Leofinance now it's unbelievable how far it can grow. Youtube can't have such exponential growth and neither its users, I tell you for sure.
The future of social media is here and it's still early on. Yes, one can earn $12 on a comment on Leofinance and we're still early on, imagine what's ahead of us in ten years from now. Imagine what lies ahead of us in the next years, and acknowledge at the same time that the content consumers for most of the youtube videos don't earn shit for their engagement. Everybody earns something in here, literally everybody and the growth is exponential*.
