What was your dream car when you were a child? Do you remember? I can recall quite vividly what my childhood dream cars were. In fact, I had a few dream cars, not just one or two, and two of them were the Ferrari Testarossa and Lamborghini Diablo.
While I didn't end up owning either of them, my passion for automobiles has endured. I may drive a personal estate car now, but I take excellent care of it.
However, today's photography post isn't about my car; it's about a friend's Honda Type R. These cars are relatively rare in my country, and the older models are even harder to spot on our streets.
My friend acquired this car quite recently, less than a month ago, and he's already made a few modifications. That said, the car remains mostly stock. It comes with a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 200 HP, a manual gearbox, 18" wheels, and sport suspension straight from the factory.
His upgrades include a fresh paint job for the rims, replacing the original white with black, which, in my opinion, looks far better, a K&N air filter, semi-slick tires, black door handles, and a black fuel tank cap.
So, the car is essentially stock. He got it for around $9,000, and I believe that these rare and highly reliable cars will only appreciate over time. If he desires more power in the months or years to come, he can perform some basic engine tuning and a remap to take this little beast to 250 HP.
I like how it drives; it's remarkably aggressive, and the sound it produces is fantastic for a 2.0-liter engine. Despite its small size and engine capacity, it boasts decent specifications. Interestingly, if you drive it conservatively, you can achieve a pretty good mileage.
Although I haven't had the chance to drive it yet, I'm looking forward to that opportunity one day. For now, I've contented myself with taking numerous photos of the car because I appreciate its aesthetics. The red and black combination truly encapsulates the essence of this car.
With winter just around the corner, my friend won't be driving it as much in the coming months. However, I'm willing to bet he'll make up for it when spring arrives. What are your thoughts on this Honda Type R? Is it a car you'd like to own?
While I wouldn't consider it my dream car or a daily driver, it's certainly the kind of boys' toy I wouldn't mind having.
