If there's one regret that I have regarding my teenage-youth years, that is for sure attending college and spending tons of cash for a diploma that has never served me. Graduating Journalism back in 2009 hasn't benefited me in absolutely any way.

I have worked almost every type of job in the world but never been a reporter, editor, or whatever... I have already detailed in previous other posts why I took this approach. Kids still go to college these days and parents still emphasize "strong education" for their young ones.

But, are diplomas still relevant these days?

Not much, I'd say... and if we would have some sort of a survey at hand in this regard, probably the most successful and impactful people in the world are not highly schooled. You don't need any damn business school to do business.

You don't need no damn "well-paid job" to get rich or have a wealthy life currently, there are tons of entrepreneurship opportunities that kick the ass of the legacy system types of jobs that require no diploma at all.

You can heal people without being a doctor, become a mechanic by watching youtube videos, and in this regard, I personally know a couple of mechanics who actually do that(DYOR on youtube) when facing difficulties, and so on and so forth.

I bet 99% of the stuff that's being taught in school doesn't make you a coder(software developer). Experience, alternative learning sources, and your own thirst for making shit happen actually do that. Nevertheless, there are still plenty of parents pushing their kids into studying computers and other related crap.

I sure remember some of the things that we studied in high school... Nothing has served me in real life. We have the damn computers to do almost everything for us, I don't even have to know how to add or subtract to get around in the world...

Elon Musk once said that you don't necessarily need a diploma at Tesla, skills kicking the ass of papers in his regard.

Another reason why diplomas are becoming obsolete lately is this content creators branch, if I may call it like that, which is expanding a lot in the past few years. No one has gone through any particular studies in order to be able to post on Hive, youtube, TikTok, etc...

Robots are going to eat plenty of the current jobs alive, pretty soon, and that's a good thing. We finally have the chance to put our creativity to work. I could continue for five more "chapters" on why diplomas are no longer relevant, but it's your turn now.

What's your take on the matter?

Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
