OK Go is an American band that burst onto the music scene with their complex and quirky music videos. Here are two sample videos of their creative genius:
With sponsorship from Google and Morton, OK Go has teamed up with some teachers to develop the free online resource called the OK Go Sandbox.
With the Sandbox and inspiration from their music videos, teachers are able to inspire students to blend the heady mix of math, science, art and music to develop creative projects.
These are the lessons that have been released to-date:
- The One Moment. Topics covered: Math, Physics, Flip Books
Learn algebra, principles of gravity and how a 4-second shot becomes an amazing 4-minute video in “The One Moment.”
- This Too Shall Pass. Topics covered: Simple Machines, Chain Reactions, Pitch
Learn how the astoundingly complex system used in “This Too Shall Pass” is actually a series of simple machines.
- Needing/Getting. Topics covered: Music, Adapted Instruments, Sensors
Learn how to make music from anything you can put your hands on, just like OK Go in “Needing/Getting” (minus the car).
Perhaps teachers from around the world could access this inspirational resource to amplify the learning experience with fun, joy and wonder!
