Sometimes it is only better to make an effort or give importance to those things in which we can really make a difference, as you rightly mention, in things or situations very close to us. Although if at a professional level we can discover things that promote a change at a global level, then you have to get down to work and try to do your best, maybe you are not the one who finishes the job, but you were the key that opened the door to future changes or discoveries.

I had a bit of a laugh with the sports, as I am a big soccer fan and my favorite teams are Arsenal (England), AS Roma (Italy) and Deportivo de La Coruña (Spain). As you can see, luck is not in favor of these teams to win things for many years now. 😂😂😂
