Greetings friend @adalger, yes, the vast majority of Coccinellidae are red, but there is a minority that have other predominant colors such as yellow or orange, the species shown in this publication is one of them, they have many variants in their color and black patterns on their elytra, for this reason is known as "variable ladybug". I believe this species is not found in Germany, although it has been introduced to many countries for biological control of aphids in crops. Thank you very much for your appreciation and support.
