Venezuela Blackout!

The news is roaring with this new blackout event in Venezuela and there is some finger pointing going around that might indicate that the US is behind this. Marco Rubio has made the joking statement that he must have pressed the wrong button on the 'electronic attack' app.

While the man scoffs at the woes of almost an entire country, there is no concrete proof that this was an attack from the US. Although it isn't off the table considering the recent statements and actions from Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and Mike Pompeo. The leaders of Venezuela are convinced this is an act of sabotage.

“We will once again defeat this electrical sabotage. We are going to recover this important service for the population,” Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said in comments broadcast over state television.

President Nicolas Maduro always attributes major power outages to sabotage by opposition adversaries.

Maduro, who was re-elected last year in a vote widely viewed as fraudulent, blames the crisis on a U.S.-backed sabotage campaign.

Another statement by the minister of electricity said this:

"They've attacked the generation and transmission at the Guri (hydroelectric dam), the backbone of the electricity system," said electricity minister Luis Motta on state TV.

While reports are not all clear, they have been saying that 15/23, 18/23 or 22/23 states have been affected by this blackout. This comes not long after Russia and China promised to defend Venezuela from the United States. So what comes next? Retaliation? Threats? What do you think?
