A terror attack in Bagdad leaves 38 dead and at least 100 people injured.
Monday in the streets of Tayaran Square, two suicide bombers took their lives along with 38 others. The New York Times reports:
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombings, but officials in charge of security in the capital immediately cast suspicion on Islamic State sleeper cells, the target of Iraq’s intelligence and counterterrorism forces since major military operations ended in the fall.
On Saturday a similar attack took place on a checkpoint in the north of the city. It seems as though bombings are on the rise again after hopes were finally being restored due to Iraq's security forces had a flood of volunteers and new recruits. They had successfully battled against insurgent groups who were terrorizing at least one million citizens.
It was a tremendous, I felt the ground shaking under my feet," he described the explosions to The Associated Press. "I fell on the ground and lost conscious to find myself later in the hospital.
Yet another disgraceful attack on humanity. The generation of wickedness is upon us and the violent crimes against one another continue to increase. Let's hope that something changes very soon.
