You can't beat a Super Sunday and today I've most certainly had a super Sunday.
The alarm was set for 6:10, but I woke up at 6am, I had a quick bite, let the dogs out for a run and I was on my way to the Golf Course. I got there at 6:45 so had plenty of time for some practice chips and putts before starting my round at 7:10am.
It was a great day at the office with a very respectable 84 strokes or +12 which I was happy with and that included an out of bounds tee shot on 17, which meant I had to play my third from the tee box. I left a few shots out on the course, so in all honesty I wasn't too far off a round in the 70s.
Some day... A man can dream!
I purposely play golf first thing in the morning, so that I am back early enough to enjoy the day with my family. Today I got home around midday and I brought the kids to the local playground and football pitch.
We had a few games of soccer and the kids had a good run around in the playground. Ireland being Ireland meant that the pitch was pretty wet with a big puddle in the middle of the goal, but we managed just fine.
The boys had their scooters too and there is a cool skatepark beside the Playground and pitch, so we stopped there too for a while and the lads scooted their little hearts out.
We got back to the house just in time for the Gaelic football Connacht semi final which saw Galway taking on Roscommon away up in Dr. Hyde park. Galway were favourites, but after the Rossies beating Mayo, it would be no formality.
Galway had the better off than the first half. But in the second half Roscommon came out and got a great goal early on and really got in a good position. They took the lead and looked like their might drive on. However my Galway team were up to the task and they got a goal themselves after a ball came back off the post, Damian Comer expertly caught it and finished into the net to put Galway a couple of points in front. It was a lead Galway never relinquished and went on to win the match by 4 points in the end setting up a connect final against Sligo in a couple of weeks time.
We've just had dinner and I've worked early in the morning so it will soon be time to start getting the kids ready for bed and we're all gonna have an early night but it's been an absolutely great Sunday and a nice way to finish out a weekend here and Galway.
How was your weekend?
