At the moment Shane is confined to a wheelchair having a bad fall a couple of years back.

It's sad that Shane is confined to a wheelchair, but pints of vodka and the life he led for decades, it's a wonder he's with us at all. He's a very charming man, even with the rotten teeth and falling around drunk and slurring the words, there is some enigmatic about him, you can see it in his eyes. I'm with you and @deirdyweirdy about Rainy Night in Soho, a song of genius and definitely my favorite Pogues song, although pretty close to a dead heat as Fairytale of New York has to be up there too.
