I used to watch F1 back in the days of Schumacher, Damon Hill, Eddie Irvine, Eddie Jordan etc, my Dad and brother were into it and I got into it too, always liked Ferrari, but when Schumacher started to dominate it got boring. Someone recommended this to me then around a year ago and like you I really got into it and enjoyed hearing about the battles further down the grid and getting to know some of the drivers.
