SteemIt billed itself as a mechanism for funding content creation. So I would expect content creators to withdraw some funds. I joined STEEM with the hopes of making enough money to buy a microphone and camera.

Very good point in fairness, I guess it is different for everybody, but for me I just love seeing that HP growing and the more it grows, the more of chance I get to share my upvote with others in a similar way that all of those kind folks have done for me along the way.
