What a golf course
Doonbeg golf course is a fantastic course and I had heard about it and how good it is. Indeed it will host the Irish Open this year, which gives you an idea about it's quality and status.
So when my friends told me there was a chance to play it twice for €450, including one nights stay at the palacial cottages, I naturally jumped at the chance!
It was only when I turned off the road and saw this massive sign that I realised that it was affiliated with that megalomaniac self centred despot Trump.
But I was here to play golf, not to get into politics, so it's golf I played. Though, I will say somevof my family were not impressed with me supporting Trump and his family.
These were some great golf photos in the stairwell where we registered for the event.
This is the famous clock tower beside the tee box on the par 5 first hole, a monster par 5 running alongside the vast Atlantic ocean.
This hole finished into a natural sand dune backed amphitheatre.
This is the scorecard for the course.
The practice facilities as you'd expect were top class.
As many golf balls as you wanted were there to hit free of charge before the round.

The breakfast and dinner were top notch also.
We were there on Masters Sunday too, which meant we got to tune in and watch the excitement of Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy winning the Masters.
Actually Rory winning the Masters pretty much paid for my golf and accommodation for the weekend!
The views from the bar were stunning.
When my room wasn't ready when I checked in, a complimentary pint was offered to me at the bar, which I gladly accepted.
All in all, it was a wonderful weekend.
