The Day

It's Father's Day here in Ireland today and in some other countries around the world. I know some countries have Father's Day on a different day but for all those that are celebrating fathers day today and indeed for all fathers out there who celebrate Father's Day on a different day, I'd like to wish you a very happy Father's Day.

I hope that you all are getting to spend time with your children today for those of you that are lucky enough, enjoy every minute and for those of you can't I hope you get to see them really soon and that you still enjoy your Father's day.

My own Father's started with my alarm going off at 5:45am!! Yep I didn't even get a sleep in on Father's Day!! Ha ha, it was totally self inflected as I was getting up from my usual early Sunday morning game of golf, which was teeing off at 7am. It was a big day in the golf in calendar too, as it was the qualifier for captain's day which is the one competition everybody in the golf club wants to win each year. It's the biggest competition of the year in any golf club. Our own captain's day is a 45 hole competition where you qualify over 18 holes to begin with. Only the best 120+ ties get to qualify so I'll have to see later on if my net 78 was enough to get me through. I have a bad feeling it wasn't but hey what can you do it goes like that sometimes. My Putter was ice cold and I made about four three puts in the round. Not good. Anyway this post is not about golf, it's about father's day so let's get back to the Father's Day although there is going to be a small bit more mention of golf later on as you'll see.

I've been spoiled for the day so far as I get home from golf and I had a lovely lunch prepared for me and I got to watch my favorite team Galway play a Gaelic football match against Armagh which then unfortunately last but I enjoyed the game nonetheless. Then I got to go to bed for a few hours, as I'm staying up tonight until around 3am to watch the conclusion of the US Open. When I got up from my sleep my dinner was waiting for me, and there was even a chocolate cake for me for after dinner!

Oh and after golf I played a match in the garden with the boys and one of their friends which ended 20-19, what a match!! We played a bit of Hurling and Gaelic football after that. What a day, sports, my boys, gorgeous cards and gifts. I'll tell you about the cards and gifts now.

The Cards

I do love a good card and these are all good cards. My favourite thing about them is that they're all homemade by my boys and they absolutely melt my heart. This first one is from my eldest boy and says: "I'm one in a minion" 🤣🤣🤣

This second one is from my middle man, our seven year old and just look at that message, what a little sweet heart.

Pretty funny too to be fair to them!

The Gifts

There were gifts aswell would you believe!?

First off we've got a really comfy a nice pair of slippers. My old ones were getting old and battered so I was well due an upgrade and these ones are great.

I must say they are very very comfortable, so my boys did very well to help pick these out with their Mammy and I told them as much when I gave them all a big hug after I got home from golf.

Also, it was not just the boys who got me something for Father's Day this year but my wife also decided to get me something which was great for me. I have never heard of these whiskey steel ice cubes before but I'm really looking forward to trying them out later on.

The US Open golf doesn't get properly started until about 9 or 10 pm here in Ireland so it'll be going on until around 3 am and I hope to stay up and watch it. I'll treat myself to a few whiskeys with my new steel ice cubes for the day that's in it. Which one should I have?

I think I'll go for the Lambay whiskey as it was lovely last time I had it. I got it as a gift from from one of my mates for my birthday two years ago and I crack it out on special occasions.

But wait there's more!! I also got this Penalli pen anyone else remember those adds!!! 🤣

The boys also made me this art which I absolutely love, some bookmarks and a post card, they are amazing I think you'll agree.
