Yesterday I started a serie of blogs called “TechTalk” talking in the first episode about the evolution of communication from smoke signals until telephone. In the next blogs we will see the evolution of radio network and let’s start with push-to-talk communicationg system.

In the early 20th century, mobile radio telephones were used in military communications. A single large transmitter on top of a building was used by this system where users share the same channel to send and receive. The system bacame known as "push-to-talk" because you must push a button to enable transmission and talk. It operate through two communication lines but not at the same time. "Walkie-talkie" was one of the important application of push-to-talk method, once the person pushes and holds the button the frequency is dedicated to him to communicate until he release, then others with the same device can take over.
