The major influence on someone's personal behavior, most especially moral, is that person's upbringing. The way you are brought up determines the way you can fit into the community you live in. The thing is, even after considering upbringing, culture still has a vital role to play in the upbringing of a child. Our parents are the key factors leading to our morals. When you see someone with good morals, it simply shows the kind of home he or she came from.
In the home, our parents teach us how we can differentiate between good and bad, and between wrong and good. This act always comes from the early stage our our lives. We are raised to face the outside world we came from and when we take the lesson in the ways of wrong, the world would be a different place for us to stay. Our parents' words would serve as the best action words we must follow.
Most parents teach their kids in the wrong way, which their children find difficult to cope with the outside world.
We are from different backgrounds and from different parents; also, we were taught differently on how to face the world. The way you viewed it would be the way you would see the world. This does not mean our characters cannot be enhanced after experiencing some wrong teaching in the home.
Putting myself in this scenario, I learned a lot from my parents. They were the ones I took after in terms of character. They taught me how to persevere in my marriage. Unlike some homes that embark on all-around fighting, making their kids become like them, my parents always compose themselves, most especially in my presence. The only day I saw them arguing was for up to two minutes. Immediately they saw me coming, they began discussing, laughing, and chatting nicely. This gave me a lot of strong mind to deal with my immediate world. I never fight with my husband and even if I want to, it must not be in the presence of my children.
Honesty is the mother of good home management. Respect and kindness are the backbone in making a home stronger. I'm not perfect but in my little way I would say the best. I received good home training and must always follow it to the end.
A child raised in a home where there is dishonesty, disrespect and lack of discipline would find it difficult to differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable behavior. They would struggle among their peers and would also find it difficult to mingle with people just because of the character they brought from their homes.
Every child is entitled to change since we are all human. Such children without good home training can embrace changes since they can always come at any time. Our upbringing can affect the way we understand freedom.
I did not just wait to learn morals from the culture I came from, but learnt them from my parents. They stand the chance to make me better as they once said that “charity begins at home”. Mine was from home.
