To be honest, when I wrote my initial introduction post, I couldn't include many details because I didn't know much about Hive at the time. I still remember creating that post in the evening after returning from the office—it took me about an hour to put it together.

A Little About Me

My name is Abhay, and I am from India. I work as a designer; my office is nearby, and I commute there daily. Due to a heavy workload, my office hours are long, leaving me with little time for other activities during the week. While I have several hobbies—such as traveling, trekking in the mountains, and camping—I also really enjoy gardening and love keeping my surroundings lush and green. I grow flowers in pots around my home; I love their beauty, and their fragrance evokes a wonderful feeling. We usually go trekking or camping only when a group of friends is ready to visit a specific location; we plan these trips for weekends since we can't travel too far, given the constraints of taking leave due to my heavy workload. I prefer living a simple life. I am a fan of DIY projects and prefer handling household tasks myself rather than seeking help from others.
I really enjoy music; although I don't have a good singing voice, I love listening to it—especially while working. Whenever I do household chores, I keep music playing in the background, which helps me stay engaged in the task. I’ve noticed that listening to music can significantly lift my mood, which is why I like it so much. I listen to songs of all genres and languages; if I really like a song—even if it’s in a language I don't speak—I’ll listen to it and figure out its meaning.

My Corner of the World

I belong to India, specifically to one of its mountainous states. The city where I live once had a small population, but it has been steadily increasing over the past few years. There are numerous tourist attractions in the area, which keeps it constantly crowded with visitors. The region I inhabit is known as the "Land of Gods" and is home to many temples that are always thronged by devotees; these pilgrims arrive from all corners of the country, regarding this land as deeply sacred.

My Time in the Hive

I have been on Hive for over three years now. I have learned a great deal during this time; when I first started, I didn't think I would make it this far, mainly because my busy schedule prevented me from being very active. However, whenever I find the time, I create posts and explore new features. Over these three years, I have made many new friends from other countries. One thing I really appreciate about this platform is how easily one can make friends here, thanks to the genuinely friendly nature of the community. This kind of friendliness encourages you to stay engaged with the platform and motivates you to explore even further.

The Day I Found Hive

I was introduced to Hive by a long-time school friend, @bhattg, who is also a colleague of mine. I still remember it was lunchtime during the winter season; after eating at the office, we used to step outside to soak up some sun. I had returned early because I had work to attend to, and shortly after, my friend came in and told me about this website where you could log in, write content, and earn money. At first, I found the idea a bit strange; although I had heard about making money online, I had been told that most such things were scams, so I was initially skeptical. I asked him in surprise if he was serious, and when he showed me his profile and the rewards he had earned on various posts, I became convinced. With his help, I set up my own profile. That evening, I created my introduction post, and the very next day, I published my first actual post. I recall that in that first post, I included several images that were not from free-to-use platforms; senior members pointed this out to me, though they took no action since it was my first mistake. I made a few errors in a subsequent post as well, but my friend guided me extensively through the process. He continues to support me and helps resolve any issues that arise. I will always be grateful to @bhattg for introducing me to this platform.

Pros and Cons of Hive

There are many points in favor of Hive, but we will focus on the key ones.

1- It functions much like other social media platforms; however, while traditional social media requires you to invest time without offering anything in return, Hive rewards you for your time and engagement, providing a measure of financial support. If you dedicate the same amount of time here that you would to other social media platforms, you can earn a substantial income, and there are plenty of opportunities for growth if you wish to expand your presence.

2- You can also trade using your rewards on Hive; since the coin's price fluctuates, you can leverage this to generate additional profits and potentially increase the value of your rewards.

3- You get to connect with people from various countries who share insights about their surroundings through their posts, and you can similarly share your own experiences, fostering meaningful friendships within the community.

Let's talk about cons, one thing that bothers me is that you often put a lot of effort into creating a post, only to have it ignored—and this happens repeatedly, especially to those who have just joined the platform. It is crucial to support new users to keep them engaged; only with gradual support can they truly understand the platform and feel motivated to continue on Hive. I have seen many people join with great enthusiasm, but when their posts go unnoticed, they stop putting in effort because they feel like they are wasting their time. There needs to be a shift in this regard; we should pay more attention to new users and support them so that they do not leave Hive.

Sharing Hive With Others

I told a few people about Hive; while some said they would join, they never actually did. Others suspected it might be a scam—much like I initially did, as I mentioned earlier. Perhaps they didn't trust me enough to join, or there could have been other reasons.
