My daughter does not smile in photos, there is something in her character that makes her stay with a hieratic smile when I photograph her. It's not that she doesn't like the photos (especially if they are mine), it's just that there is this trend among young people: some go towards euphoria and others go towards depression. I think my daughter is in the middle. The afternoon of this session I did against a colorful façade in Old Havana, I was able to surprise her with two smiles, the wind was shaking her curls very hard and she was all the time watching them to keep them in their places. Of course, this task of controlling hair against the wind is impossible, so she had no choice but to smile at the eventuality. This is how I like to work, and more so with my daughter, when the colors are not only on the facades, but emanate from the face of the person you are photographing, and even more so if it is someone you love, as in this case, my beloved daughter. My colorful girl.
Mi hija no sonríe en las fotos, hay algo en su carácter que la hace quedarse si acaso con una sonrisa hierática cuando la fotografío. No es que no le gusten las fotos (sobre todo si son mías), es que existe esta corriente entre los jóvenes: algunos van hacia la euforia y otros van hacia la depresión. Creo que mi hija está en el centro. La tarde de esta sesión que le hice contra una colorida fachada en la Habana Vieja, la pude sorprender con dos sonrisas, el viento agitaba muy fuerte sus rizos y ella estaba todo el tiempo pendiente de ellos para que se mantuvieran en sus lugares. Por supuesto que esta tarea de controlar cabellos contra el viento es cosa imposible, así que a ella no le quedaba más remedio que sonreír ante la eventualidad. Así me gusta trabajar, y más con mi hija, cuando los colores no están solamente en las fachadas, sino que emanan del rostro de la persona a quien fotografías, y más si es alguien a quien amas, como es este caso, mi adorada hija. Mi niña colorida.
