THE CONSTITUENT OF PRAYER
Bro Eli defined prayer as communication or relating to God, asking for what we need or desire.
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
He stressed that we should come to God with a clean heart, confessing our sin as recorded in Acts 22:16
He also admonished us to refrain from speaking guile.
1 Peter 3:10
For he that will love life, and see good days let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
JAMES 5:12
But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
We should always endeavour to pray with a right and pure heart not a heart full of evil.
