I don’t know where to start but I will say weekends are for relaxation. I never really thought a time will come when I will go out to explore. When I started this NSS thing, I always when to get a space to free my thoughts and have fun. This weekend was one that I have never seen in my life. A place where I found almost every game I have ever dreamt of learning. Let me take you through it.
Before anything, I will give a hail to Frenzy. I don’t know how that is but this thing was made with great concern. I love the organization and I was pleased to be there. many people came and everyone was free to do whatever they wanted. A group of youth came together to hang around and shake off some stress. Most of the people there were workers. They enjoyed and we all say a big Thank you to the Frenzy team for this massive organization. I will start with where it started t where it ended. Take a sit as I journey you through a night of greatness.
The Frenzy game night was organized at Pride Hotel I got many people asking me where was. That was my first time hearing about and being there. I loved the location of the program. A great hall that had everything set. From the chairs arranged to each game being set up many times and everyone will have a chance to try each and no one is bothered or anything. In all the location was dope and I hope you find a day to be there too. I graced it with @mohammed5,
@thisisnativeboy, and
@depressedfuckup.
Games to be played.
A whole lot of games were added. Me coming from a home where I am not sung to going out, I found some games I have never really seen. I was surprised to see them and I was happy in addition. Games that dealt with mind tricks and others. I said well that was what the night was for. To have fun while we learn and relax our minds. Some of these games included Monopoly which I don’t seem to understand, scrabble which I am doing my best in learning, chess which I learned a bit over there, UNO, cards, ludo, and the FIFA competition which didn’t go well for me.
Now I will be telling us about each game. How it was played and the fun out of it. I didn’t get to test most of the games. I had some favorites so I stuck to them. maybe on another hangout, I will do my best to learn a new skill. The games were super dope. I must say everyone there found a game they loved and did justice to it.
The Scrabble Teams
Scrabble is something I’m trying so hard to learn. I had to try it once I saw it at this game night. It was a great experience as we all at the seat of scrabble were a bunch of newbies to that game. We had Abbas, Richard, @depressedfuckup, Abdul Ganiu, and me. it was a nice experience trying it again.
@depressedfuckup on the first trial was our score master as he also learned along as we play. For the trial, I did my best to claim the championship but the main game went over me like a bar. Ha-ha. I didn’t make it to the top again. The game and its rules seemed to be fascinating.
@depressedfuckup was still confused with some of the rules, especially the one that says, “IF someone forms a word and you challenge it and the word turns out to be a word then, you lose your chance to play in that round.” Interesting right? That is how mind-boggling it is.
We had another team who played it. They were intellectuals in it. I remember when one of them came to us and saw how he could just form a word and make 80 points in just a play. I said what? That was a champion we were looking for right there. they left us to learn but guided us to also become better. That’s the beauty of the game. I heard @depressedfuckup lost. I wasn't there to see but I heard.
Chess
Ha-ha. This game isn’t easy at all. Today was just the day I said I have to take a try at it. I heard of Pawn many times but I never knew what it was. For the tutorials, I learned the Queen is the most powerful which I thought was the king. Some go in a box form and others in a straight line form. This is a fun game I must learn. I found it difficult though which I didn’t get back to. I will have to take that lessons seriously the next time I get the chance.
@thisisnativeboy took it seriously though. He learned it with passion and could play as a beginner for now. He even went further to teach someone. I don’t know if it was one of his tricks or if he just wanted to help her learn sincerely. He will have to answer this.
@depressedfuckup also took the tutorials. It was a fun one. I don’t know if he could play but I didn’t see him play.
As part of chess, @thisisnativeboy did very well. I think he took his studies of the chess game seriously. A become an amateur at it just that night. He learned, played to be a loser, drew, and also won one of the games. How fast can this guy learn? The most amazing part of it all was when he was able to also teach 3 people to be like him. That is the beauty of the game. Great game chess is.
Monopoly
Seriously, I learned this in social studies in business terms. People can use their powers of being the only ones selling a product to gain more profit. But to see it to be a game? I was totally confused. I didn’t try it. When I even went closer to the people sitting by it, they told me, they don’t even know how to play it kuraa. That was when I knew I wasn’t alone in the mud.
FIFA Competition
I got myself registered. A game I love but don’t know how to find my way around it. FIFA is a game every gut should love and know how to play a bit. I registered for the tournament and that was when I lost concentration in my scrabble game. I went in for the first match and was defeated. It was a hard blow which I took very well. it didn’t go as planned but I hope next time I get better to conquer the stands. I didn’t win any matches. From the trials to the main tournament. That was so unlucky of me. I will have to they hard so times
Other games
The other games were fun and I had a spy on all of them. there was this one they called UNO which I didn’t know what that was and didn’t also ask
Cards, I know I can play but I only wanted it to be in the mood for games like mind-boggling. I choose to scrabble over them.
Snooker was also another. It is a game I don’t understand. Either you see the stick to hit the white or black and which one you want to remain or what. I see it to be fun but I never developed an interest to learn it.
The game of ludo. The dye games. It is played by almost everyone since we all can find our way around it. Just roll the dye and wait to see what pops up. You will see the use of this dye when you study probability in school. all the time the question will be like, “Two dyes are rolled once” I can’t think far.
This was how far we came. It was great, engaging, and fun. We meet new people whom I never want to miss a show of this kind. I asked to join their WhatsApp and I was added. Maybe more is yet to come. But for this, I say Alhamdulillah for the invite.
This was my weekend Saturday and thanks for passing by!
