As my first post on Architecture+Design, I would like to come up with a great modern building in our city, is Aceh Tsunami Museum that was built after Tsunami occurred in Aceh-Indonesia 2004. It has become a new icon of Aceh and condisered as the most favorite visited building. I am just an architect enthusiast and not really know about the characteristic of a design but I love anything that relates to artistic design. So my first pick goes to this building as I thought, it was full of art as well as magnificent interior design that was born from the thought and hand of a well-known Indonesian architect Ridwan Kamil (currently serves as Governor of West Java). It is not just a building, it is also a reminder of the unforgettable tragedy of the Indian Ocean mega earthquake and tsunami disaster that happened in 2004 as well as an educational center for people who want to know about what really happens in that year. I was personally amazed by the design of the inside out. If we see from birds' eyes, this museum will be like a tsunami swirl, from the human perspective this building will be seen like a surviving ship.
This museum has been well known for the unique architecture that attracts many tourists to pay a visit and there they are also provided with all history about Tsunami Aceh 2004. The architecture of this museum, according to my architect friend, adopted Metaphor Interior Architecture as a theme for the design.
Inside the museum, the visitor can watch an audiovisual that views the footage o the tsunami in Aceh but before we really reach the chamber, we must pass the little wave path, which reminds us about the wave in the sea. The visitor leads to the walkthrough a dark, dripping tunnel that describes the dark day in 2004 that follows a powerful set of images of disaster projected from tombstone-like receptacles, and a circular chamber engraved with the names of the lost.
When we reach the upstairs, we will witness a very graphic touched short film is shown, along with photographs of loss, displacement, rebuilding, hopefulness, and reunited families. While the chamber keeps a display of how the mega-earthquake and tsunami alter the landscape of the city and coastal area.
This high-rise is about 40 meter high with a round path that connect to the upstair.

The museum is established in 2009. It is located on Jalan Taman Blang Padang, the wreckage of trucks destroyed by tsunami can also be seen on the right side of the building
