The purpose of this post is to teach music fans and the brave people who want to enter this scary and exciting world of music theory, don't be scared even though I said scary world, with some patience and determination you can learn music theory. Can you be a musician without knowing anything about theory? Yes, of course you can, there are great music virtuosos who don't know theory. But not knowing theory would be like walking blindly. Music theory facilitates the analysis, understanding and composition of music. Many say that music is not studied, it is felt, of course music is felt. But in our need to understand music we seek to study and investigate the different elements that music has.
El propósito de este post es enseñar a aficionados de la música y a las valientes personas que quieren adentrarse a este tenebroso y emocionante mundo de la teoría musical, no se asusten aunque dije tenebroso mundo, con algo de paciencia y determinación puedes aprender teoría musical. ¿Puedes ser músico sin saber nada de teoría? Sí, claro que se puede, existen grandes virtuosos de la música que no conocen de teoría. Pero no saber teoría, sería como andar a siegas. La teoría musical facilita el análisis, comprender y componer música. Muchos dicen que la música no se estudia se siente, claro la música se siente. Pero en nuestra necesidad de comprender la música buscamos estudiar e investigar los diferentes elementos que tiene la música.

What are the basics of music?/¿Cuáles son las bases de la música?.
In music theory the bases of music are:
Melody, rhythm and harmony.
En la teoría musical las bases de la música son: La Melodía, El ritmo y la armonía.
Melody/Melodía.
I'll be completely honest creating good and interesting melodies is hard, melodies is what you might remember most easily from your favorite song. These are a linear sequence, a combination of tones and rhythms. An example of a melody would be the one made by a singer with his voice and the guitar solos.
Seré completamente sincero crear buenas e interesantes melodías es difícil, las melodías es lo que quizás recuerdes más fácil mente de tu canción favorita. Estas son una secuencia lineal, una combinación de tonos y ritmos. Un ejemplo de melodía, seria la que hace un cantante con su voz y los solos de guitarra.
Rhythm/Ritmo.
Rhythm is how music is divided into beats that are divided a specific number of times within a measure and at a defined speed. This is a measured movement and it is the way the music connects. Rhythm is everywhere, it is part of us, there is rhythm in the sounds of nature, in our own words, and our heart beats in a certain rhythm.
El ritmo es como la música se divide en pulsos que se dividen un número específico de veces dentro de un compás y a una velocidad definida. Este es un movimiento medido y es la forma en que la música se conecta. El ritmo se encuentra en todas partes forma parte de nosotros existe el ritmo en los sonidos de la naturaleza, en nuestras propias palabras y nuestro corazón late a cierto ritmo.
Harmony/Armonía.
When we talk about harmony, we refer to the combination of different sounds or notes that sound at the same time. We can play several sounds randomly but this will not have harmony with each other, it is like saying random words, the words we say will not make any sense. The same happens in music the different sounds must be combined to create a great harmony.
Cuando hablamos de armonía nos referimos a la combinación de diferentes sonidos o notas que suenan al mismo tiempo. Podemos tocar varios sonidos de forma aleatoria pero esto no tendrán armonía entre si es como decir palabras a lazar no tendrá ningún sentido las palabras que decimos. Igual ocurre en la música los diferentes sonidos deben combinarse para crear una gran armonía.
