El puente de las Américas/Bridge of the Americas
Hello friends of Hive, cordial greetings, today I share with you some images of the first bridge built in Panama, it is the Bridge of the Americas, a passage over the entrance to the Pacific Ocean of the Panama Canal and which since its opening has been one of the steps that connect the capital city with the rest of the country.
Originally a ferry had to be used to make the crossing but since it was located at the entrance to the Canal, it interfered with maritime traffic, a solution had to be found. At that time the Canal was administered by the United States and they decided to build an overpass and it was In 1962, this bridge was inaugurated, which was made of steel and the name given was because it was the only passage that linked the northern and southern hemisphere. Today there are two more bridges, but this first one is the most iconic.
