ၾကားခ်င္တာသာ ၾကားတတ္ၾကတာမို႔....
A Native American was in downtown New York City, walking along with his friend who lived in New York City.
အေမရိကန္ေက်းေတာသားႀကီးဟာ နယူးေရာ့ခ္ျမိဳ႕လယ္ေခါင္မွာ သူ႔ရဲ႕ၿမိဳ႕ခံသူငယ္ခ်င္းနဲ႔ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္လာၾကသတဲ့။
Suddenly he said, “I hear a little bird.”
“Oh, you’re crazy,” his friend replied.
"ငါ ငွက္ေအာ္သံေလး ၾကားလိုက္တယ္" လို႔ သူက ႐ုတ္တရက္ေျပာလိုက္တယ္။
"အို..မင္း ႐ူးေနတာပါ" လို႔ သူ႔သူငယ္ခ်င္းက ျပန္ေျပာသတဲ့။
“No, I hear a little bird. I do! I am sure of it.”
" မဟုတ္ဘူး။ ငါ ငွက္ေအာ္သံေလး တကယ္ၾကားလိုက္တာ။ ေသခ်ာပါတယ္" လို႔ သူျပန္ေျဖလိုက္တယ္။
“It’s the noon hour. You know there are people bustling around, cars honking, taxis squealing, and noises from the city. I’m sure you can’t hear it.”
"ေန႔ခင္းေၾကာင္ေတာင္ႀကီးကြာ။ လူေတြ တ႐ုန္း႐ုန္း၊ ကားဟြန္းသံေတြတညံညံ၊ အငွားကားေတြ တကၽြီကၽြီ၊ ၿမိဳ႕ထဲမွာ ဒီေလာက္ဆူညံေနတဲ့ဟာ။ မင္း ဒီငွက္သံကိုၾကားတယ္ဆိုတာ မျဖစ္ႏိုင္ပါဘူးကြာ" လို႔ သူငယ္ခ်င္းက ဆိုတယ္။
“I’m sure I do.” He listened attentively and then walked to the corner across the street, and looked all around.
" ငါ တကယ္ၾကားတာပါ"။ သူဟာ ေသေသခ်ာခ်ာ အာရံုစိုက္နားေထာင္လိုက္ကာ လမ္းတစ္ဘက္ေထာင့္သို႔ကူးသြားၿပီး ေနရာအႏွံ ့လိုက္ရွာပါေတာ့တယ္။
Finally, on the other corner, he found a shrub in a large cement planter. He looked beneath the leaf and found a little bird.
အဆံုးမေတာ့ အဲဒီေထာင့္မွာ လမ္းေဘးအလွစိုက္တဲ့ ပန္းအိုးႀကီးထဲမွာ ခ်ဳံပုတ္တစ္ခုကို သူေတြ႕ပါတယ္။ သစ္ရြက္ေအာက္ကိုၾကည့္လိုက္ေတာ့ ငွက္ကေလးတစ္ေကာင္ကို သူေတြ႕ပါေလေရာ။
His friend was very surprised. But the Native American said, “No, my ears are no different from yours. It simply depends on what you are listening for. Here, let me show you.”
သူ႔ရဲ႕ သူငယ္ခ်င္းက အရမ္းအံ့ၾသသြားတယ္။ အေမရိကန္ေက်းေတာသားႀကီးက ေျပာတယ္ " ငါ့ရဲ႕ နားေတြဟာ မင္းရဲ႕နားေတြနဲ႔ အတူတူပါပဲ။ မင္း ဘာကို အာရံုျပဳနားစိုက္ေထာင္တတ္တယ္ ဆိုတဲ့အေပၚပဲမူတည္တာပါ။ ငါ မင္းကိုျပမယ္ကြာ"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a handful of coins – a few quarters, some dimes, nickels, and pennies. And he dropped them on the concrete.
သူဟာ အိတ္ထဲကို နွိုက္ၿပီး အေႂကြေစ့ေတြလက္တစ္ဆုပ္စာ ထုတ္ယူလိုက္ေလရဲ႕၊ မတ္ေစ့၊ မူးေစ့၊ ျပားေစ့ အစံုပါပဲ။ ၿပီးေတာ့ အဲဒီအေႂကြေစ့ေတြကို ကြန္ကရစ္လူသြားလမ္းေပၚပစ္ခ်လိုက္ပါေလေရာ။
Everyone nearby on the roadside turned their heads.
လမ္းေဘးမွာရွိတဲ့လူတိုင္းဟာ သမင္လည္ျပန္လွည့္ၾကည့္ၾကသတဲ့။
“You see what I mean? It all depends on what you are listening for.”
"ငါဆိုလိုတာကို မင္းေတြ႕ၿပီလား။ မင္း ဘာကို အာရံုျပဳနားစိုက္ေထာင္တတ္တယ္ ဆိုတဲ့အေပၚပဲမူတည္တာလို႔"
(Native American ကို Red Indian သို႔မဟုတ္ မူလကတည္းက အေမရိကန္ႏိုင္ငံတြင္ေနထိုင္ခဲ့ၾကသည့္တိုင္းရင္းသားဟု politically correct ျဖစ္ေအာင္ ဘာသာျပန္မဲ့အစား ဖတ္ရလြယ္ေအာင္ "အေမရိကန္ေက်းေတာသားႀကီး" ဟု ဘာသာျပန္ထားပါသည္။)
