Nature - 7DayPositivityChallenge Day 6

One thing most tourists and visitors notice about Malaysian roads apart from the traffic is the landscaping and greenery that surrounds us.

In fact, not many capital cities can boast of a forest reserve right in the heart of a modern city centre, Kuala Lumpur does!

And just a short drive away around the sub-urb of Kepong/Selayang, is FRIM, the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia. Acres of land devoted to studying and preserving hundreds and thousands of species of trees, bushes, herbs and all things green.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting this place for the first time. As in actually walking through the forest! And this was a special treat today, as on every other day, the forest trails are off limits due to irresponsible behaviour of the visitors over the years. But seeing as it was a special holiday, with minimal staff and visitors, we managed to give the slip, escaped into the woods where I discovered a special leaf, some rare rudrasksha beads (which are native to certain part of India) and even came across some wildlife.

We covered some 11 kilometres in and out of the forest trail and onto the designated walkpaths. Those paths were nothing short of spectacular too!

Apart from my shoe giving way and receiving a friendly leech bite, I was very impressed with my body after such a long hiatus in catching up with an intense physical activity such as this. I took my time whenever my lungs screamed for air, and kept practicing deep Yogic breathing.

At one point, I gave up on the shoes and went barefoot, and felt such a strong connection to the surrounding and how this body was somehow an extension of the nature that was around me.

With a contented heart, fulfilled senses and weary legs, I can't wait to go back for more!

Pics are from my phone which kept getting whipped out of the back pack.

The Rules:

The 'rules' are fairly simple, for this Steemit challenge, which I do hope transcends into our everyday life - in finding more positivity in the world.

  1. Write a post about something you have to be positive about today - this could be anything from being thankful for your current situation, someone being nice to you, being thankful for your friends and family, or even being thankful for the opportunity you have been given here on Steemit - just keep it positive :)
  2. Do this for 7 days in a row if you get nominated.
From @kchitrah: Or do your best with 7 such posts spaced close together - I know that's what I'll be doing
  3. Mention three people who should do this on each day.
  4. Tag it with #7daypositivitychallenge and include these rules at the bottom of your post
(Tip: You need to put the # in front of 7daypositivitychallenge or it will not let you use the tag.)
  5. Include a picture of something positive (related to your story if possible).

Today, I'm tagging: @art-work, @awakentolife @indigoocean (I'm tagging ppl who don't even know I exist! Hahaha, thought this crazy idea might be fun to entertain....and now I wait)

Though the choice always remains in the hands of those nominated to take this up, I hope that this might be an inspiration to find more beauty, love and opportunity to express gratitude everyday. As it is a nice way to move through a week, or more (should we take a couple days in between the posts).
