40 Degree Temperatures Swings Heavy Rain Strong Winds Miserable Sunday

Many of you yesterday experienced yesterday the concept of being a quick change artist going from t-shirts to sweat shirts in a matter of minutes. You can thank that big storm that stands out like a sore thumb on the satellite picture this morning. We are sitting in a low overcast and the strong gusty northeast winds continue with temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s and we will be pretty much sitting in this all day long.

Yesterday's cold front has made it all the way down to Washington DC which is where temperatures this morning are still in the relatively warm 60s. We are just going to be sitting in this all day and some rain will start to develop ahead of that warm front late this afternoon and begin pushing northward tonight.

For now three isn't too much on the radar to worry about this morning though some light rain or drizzle could pop up at anytime. To the north ice storm conditions are occurring across upstate NY where temperatures are below freezing. Winter Weather Advisories extend as far south as the Catskills and Northern Connecticut today where temperatures in some areas are below 32 and freezing drizzle/freezing light rain is occurring in some places.

Late tonight into Monday afternoon comes the meat of the rain and wind with heavy downpours and possible thunderstorms which will make the morning commute Monday difficult. 2 inches or more of rain is likely in most areas from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England which means flooding of the usual suspect areas. Thunderstorms will likely not be severe so at least we don't have that to worry about. All of this should be done Monday afternoon as the front swings east and weather conditions begin to improve from west to east.

The weather pattern next week has a blocky signature to it which means in general it will be a rather chilly pattern as compared to normal. There isn't too much happening other than a cold front that will approach later Wednesday and Wednesday night with a few showers and not much more. No major storms are on the horizon this week.
