14 December, the Martyred Intellectuals' day. The day we lost the best children of the soil of Bangladesh. The killing of intellectuals in 1971 means the killing of intellectuals and intellectuals of Bangladesh by the Pakistani invaders in a planned manner during the whole of Bangladesh's liberation war in 1971. When the Pakistan army came to the end of the war of liberation in December 1971, when they realized that they could not win the war, they planned to make the newly formed country weak and crippled in cultural, social and educational aspects. According to that plan, on December 14, the Pakistani army, with the help of their native collaborator Razakar, Al-Badr and Al Shams, brought out the best children of the country from their respective houses and killed them after ruthless torture. This planned genocide is known in the history of Bangladesh as the killing of intellectuals. The intellectuals were captured in various massacre in captivity. After the country became independent, their wounds and distorted bodies were found in Rayerbazar and Mirpur killing areas.

Many bodies have not been identified, many bodies found On 14th December 1971, on the 14th anniversary of the brutal killings, Shaheed Intellectuals Day was celebrated every year on December 14th. Intellectuals memorials have been established in Bangladesh to commemorate the killing of intellectuals. Besides, the Bangladesh Postal Department has brought out a series of memorial stamps in memory of intellectuals.
