Skating and Eating and Writing, Oh My! - Sunday Freewrite

It's been an interesting week.

Birthdays and Skating

We had two birthdays to celebrate this week. My own, and that of my youngest who turned 9 yesterday. Astrologically speaking, we were born on the same day (as it's set at UTC for consistency sake), but on paper we are a day apart.

The birthdays coincided with a roller skating party put on by the local homeschooling group. We haven't been before despite being in Wyoming for three years, but I intend to make it to more events after this.

The funny thing is, I haven't roller skated since high school, and probably only been on ice skates twice since then (and I find ice skating a lot easier!) I found that I have to completely relearn this skill. If you don't use your skills, you lose them!!!

Not many adults braved the skates at the party and no other who obviously had to relearn. But I think it's important to maintain these skills as much as possible, so I will relearn this one! (Hopefully without too much injury!)

I never fell (almost did once), and gradually got a little faster, though not enough to leave the wall and skate with the teenagers! Next time will be better.

Today, two days later, I still have sore muscles in my back and butt. It takes a lot of muscle just to hold your legs together when they want to roll in opposite directions! Plus balancing in general.

Carnivore Diet

I've been extremely good in resisting temptation, but I did give in this week a couple of times, one more serious than the other.

I've been on one-meal-a-day for a couple of weeks now, which really works well for me, I'm finding. It wasn't intentional... "just happened"...

I went grocery shopping Friday morning (my birthday and Valentine's Day) to stock up after having snow and ice restrict us to one car (which was required to take hubby to work). The 15 inches of snow we had on the 3rd is still around. Our road was nearly impassible until the city finally decided to salt and grit it on Wednesday, I think it was. That meant we could actually use both cars on Friday, allowing me to go shopping (and take the kids skating.)

Anyway, I was in one of the grocery stores when I saw some discounted king crab. This stuff (of Deadliest Catch fame) is normally $20/lb here. This was only $5/lb! So, it was a no-brainer to grab a package of that plus a 2-pound back of prawns. I had also found artichokes on sale.

So, my birthday meal consisted of: king crab, prawns, artichoke and some strawberries someone gave me for the occasion. That may have been the first plant foods I've eaten this year and I enjoyed them completely.

Yesterday, however, I succumbed to some of the cookies I made for the skating. The first one tasted good. But then, it started going downhill. I realized that my tastes have changed enough that I really don't want them anymore. That's a good thing and I'm really happy to get back onto the carnivore diet fully today.

I'm trying to move my one-meal-a-day to the evening to be more sociable, but I often find myself hungry around lunch, then not in the evening at all. See, with almost-zero carb, you simply aren't hungry so often, allowing you to become more in tune with whether you're actually hungry or whether you just want pleasure from eating carbs.

Writing

The current NSFW story Royal Trouble ends this week. I will continue right on with Freyja's Fire though there is meant to be another NSFW story that comes right after Royal Trouble, but it's not completed yet, so maybe after Freyja's Fire or maybe something else will finish first... It's always hard to predict which story will want working.

I managed around 10k words this week, but not on the story I thought was scheduled to be completed next. This is because I have been struggling a little since I had influenza. My mind has been a little slow still, so dealing with huge story arcs wasn't really an option this week (though I think I'll be able to work on these this coming week.)

Instead, I've been working on something (unnamed) about a science researcher who finds herself in a rather unique science lab. It's borderline erotic romance, but has some really important plot points for my A'mara history, so it will be worth a read. It's currently sitting around 16k words and will probably finish out at 20k. It was never meant to be super long. I might just get this finished this week, which will give me some breathing space regarding which stories are ready to be shared.

This week

In addition to the writing I need to do, I have a commission to work on Daz 3D. This graphic short story will be interesting as it's going to take me a long ways out of my comfort zone into NSFW fetishes. Unfortunately, my current product inventory doesn't allow me to do quite everything that the person wants, but we'll get close. It will be a good challenge for me. I've already been working on developing the clothing that my female character requires. My plan is to come up with a few different options and let the person choose which clothing he likes best.

RedBubble

I do love working with their artists tools, though some of their recent "improvements" have been nothing short of frustrating. Please bear with my links for them for the moment. You can get to the rest of the products with the image where it says: "Available on +56 products" or whatever number it is. But they've made some of the navigation rather clunky for the moment.

Meanwhile, please enjoy this older snow photo:
