New Chicks!!! - Sunday Freewrite

That's the big news of the week. I ran around our area for several hours Saturday to select and collect the chicks from one farm, then buy chick starter from one of the feed stores, then deliver the chicks to the other farm where they will be kept until we have our land.

The chicks were already 10 days old, so past the main danger of loss, perfect for children to love.

I will share more about the chickens later, I've sort of specialized in poultry over the years, so can easily write an entire post or two right now.

Right now, the chicks remain at this farm, so the search for our own land continues...

Land Search

We did look at a place this week with a wonderful street location. Poison Spider Road and Black Widow Road! Amazing!

Unfortunately, it was far too small, poorly laid out with some problems that were likely to have the USDA reject it anyway. So, it went in the "has potential... for someone else" list.

I discovered several of the criteria regarding manufactured homes though...

  1. It has to have a foundation. (probably a good idea)
  2. It has to be June 2006 or newer.

Two properties were rejected this week due to these issues.

One is a mobile home that needs substantial work since the people who were foreclosed on took everything of value including sinks, toilets, whatever that wasn't anchored well enough. Wow. Shame as it's on 40 acres.

The second was a manufactured home on 2 acres just outside of town. The land looked very nice and the location was very convenient, but the home was too old.

So, back to watching for new listings.

Snow

No snow in the forecast this week for a change.

Last week's predicted snowfall did hit as expected and closed I-80 for substantial distances following a severe accident involving dozens of vehicles. Which brings us to...

Apartment Inspections

The company literally couldn't get here from Utah, so our inspections got postponed. Which is good - and bad - as that also gave everyone a breather... (cough, cough) so, lots of stuff still needs to be completed before the inspections!

Writing

February saw a disappointing 28,000 words written, but it's still (almost) enough to keep up with the number I share weekly.

This week, I wrote a lot, but most of it went on a piece of erotica that sprang out of nowhere. 13k words on it this week! Hopefully, I can get back to my main tasks this week - getting the next piece ready for after Freyja's Fire.
