1. The Near Moon to Earth
   The total lunar eclipse will take place on January 31, 2018. The event is quite rare because the eclipse occurs when the Moon is in a supermoon and bluemoon configuration.

The phenomenon of a supermoon occurs when the full moon is within its proximity to the earth so the size of the moon is 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual.

Bluemoon is a full moon that occurs twice in a calendar month.

1. Combined 3 Natural Phenomena at a Time
   These three phenomena also combine natural events simultaneously, namely bluemoon, supermoon, and lunar eclipse.

In fact, the event is called quite rare. This is due to this event was last observed on 31 March 1866 or 152 years ago.

1. Earth Covering the Moon
   The lunar eclipse occurs when the full moon of the earth covers the moon, so the moon is covered by the shadow of the earth. The moon's orbit around the earth is elliptical so that the distance of the earth with the moon is always changing. When the moon is at the nearest point (perigee) with the earth to coincide with the full moon there is a supermoon.

The phenomenon that took place on 31 January 2018 begins with a partial eclipse, followed by a total eclipse, a partial eclipse again, and the moon is entirely detached from the shadow of the earth.

   Unlike the solar eclipses that can only be observed in very limited areas, this lunar eclipse can be observed from most of the Earth's surface, from North America, the Pacific Ocean, Eastern Siberia and Asia.

However, this eclipse will not be visible from most of South America and Africa.

Early partial eclipse occurred at 18:48 pm

The beginning of the total eclipse occurred at 19:52 pm

The peak of the eclipse occurred at 20:30 pm

The end of totality occurred at 21:08 pm

The end of the eclipse occurs on partial 22.11 WIB
