I was pleased to see Katsuko Saruhashi as the Google doodle other day. It was fitting given that we are in the midst of the Women in Science contest. I thought it was apropos that I should call that out.
It would have been her 98th birthday on March 21.
"There are many women who have the ability to become great scientists. I would like to see the day when women can contribute to science and technology on an equal footing with men." -Katsuko Saruhashi [1][2]

Hit the Google doodle summary HERE, to see all the references to her and her work. Perhaps a science heroine to write about for our 20th-century era contest.
This contest is a three-way partnership between the groups @SteemSTEM, @TheWritersBlock and the @SteemSugars. We had some good activity around the contest post from last week. Please see the original contest post. The contest asked for people to write about influential women scientists from the pre 19th century (that's anytime before the year 1801). I may have to be a little more specific with the date-time bounds as the "pre 19th century" seemed to bewilder a few. We ended up with 12 entries.
The prize pool reward was seeded with of 15 SBD, from me. The wonderful women of Steem, the @SteemSugars, added in 35 SBD just to kick it off. In addition, the @SteemSTEM crew has put forward a STEEM power up of 50 SP (25/15/10) to the authors. Thumbs up @SteemSTEM!
The pool is 50 SBD, and the post earned a payout of 3.23.
1st Place = 25.323 SBD
2nd Place = 15.194 SBD
3rd Place = 10.129 SBD
Splitting the 20% of the pool
The Writers' Block = 0.646 SBD
SteemSTEM = 0.646 SBD
SteemSugars = 0.646 SBD and to the next contest 0.646 SBD
Confirmation of the payout to the winners - CONGRATS!
Thanks to those of you that entered contest 1 of the Women in Science series. Stay tuned for contest 2 of the series. The earn-out of this post will go to support the three sponsors - so vote it up!
Thank you from #SteemSTEM, #TheWritersBlock and the #SteemSugars
