WinExperience - Drinking with porró @ Can Ros Restaurant, Barcelona

Drinking with porró @ Can Ros Restaurant, Barcelona

Barcelona.
November 2017.
It was a cold night and we were craving for Paella.
We knew about a place (I don't rememer how but probably after checking tripadvisor) famous for its Paella.
It was very far away from where we were that day but we managed to get there.

The place is Can Ros (Check Tripadvisor Here)

We ordered our wonderful Paella...

Ok, back to the wine.
It was cold, I thought it would be a good idea to drink red wine but the Paella was demanding white. Then the waiter suggested the local white wine in a traditional way! Using a "porró". I had no idea of what he was talking about but he explained us it is a container very known in Catalonia that, unlike regular bottles or jugs, has two holes. One to serve and another one to drink directly. Clearly this is the kind of thing tourists like and we ordered a porró of wine!

The wine was particularly good. I know I was there for the Paella but all the context made the moment really pleasant. It was cozy inside, we were tired and finally had the opportunity to seat comfortably. The waiter was very nice and I enjoyed all the porró thing. It surely helped to make the moment better but I assure you the wine itself was good.

So about the porró. The advantage is that it allows several people to drink directly from it without using a glass for each one. Off course it requires some technique to stay on target (mouth!)... like this genteman here I just found on wikipedia:

"Porró" in wikipedia

I used it like a beginner but it was fun.
