Thailand Makes Way For More Cannabis Growing

Just recently, government officials in Thailand moved to make changes to narcotics legislation that had been passed last year.

They recently approved of a proposal that would amend that legislation and pave the way for more cannabis growing in the region.

More specifically, they are looking to give medical practitioners, patients, and traditional healers too, the ability to grow cannabis for both commercial and medicinal purposes.

Those who have a medical certificate, as well as the medical practitioners using cannabis treatments, along with traditional healers from the region, would be able to grow cannabis to meet their needs and that of their communities.

It would make changes allowing for manufacturers to also import, export, and produce, cannabis products.

Now the bill is going to be sent to the Office of the Council of State and then eventually make its way to the House for consideration and full implementation. They are hopeful that at the end of the day manufacturers will have more room to produce medical cannabis products, that will enable the region to compete with cannabis markets that have sprung up elsewhere around the world like in Canada, United States, and Jamaica.

By 2024 it is estimated that the cannabis market in Thailand might grow to be almost $1 billion, more than $600 million.

Across Thailand, Asian in general, and the world for that matter, there is great potential for cannabis to transform the lives for patients and farmers, to improve the standard of living for many involved from A to Z with growing and producing cannabis goods. There is huge potential for this plant to help to boost economies worldwide like never before.
