Crackdown on Cannabis Advertising Along Highways

Some cannabis companies have been placing billboards along highways in California in an effort to bring attention to their cannabis businesses and now authorities in the region say that they need to stop.

They have already instructed billboard companies to stop selling their space along the highways to cannabis companies so that they can put a stop to the marketing efforts.

The reason that they are looking to stop the marketing is because legalization brings with it heavy restrictions on marketing.

Companies are forbidden for example, from using colorful advertisements that might be appealing to young people, they are heavily restricted in how and where they can market.

The government makes it difficult for cannabis businesses to attract new customers and to market their products, because of the rigid rules surrounding how they can spread the information and where they can post it.

These changes come after a judge ruled in favor of a dad who sued to block these ads from being shown in those areas. Cannabis opponents say that they don't want advertisements placed on highways that might influence their children, but customers have been finding cannabis successfully for years without any help from billboards.
