My photos today are from the second short walk that I took on the same day and after the short walk that I did at Cromwell Valley Park. This second walk was just down the road at Loch Raven Reservoir in Baltimore County, Maryland.
This short walk was shorter than the one at Cromwell Valley Park. I basically crossed the street from a little parking lot right at the Loch Raven Dam. From there I maybe walked about half a block or so.
From the parking lot I spotted a little trail that I may try to check out some time in the future.
Last time I rode by here there was no water flowing over the dam and it was the same on this visit. It was interesting to see a lot of geese gathered at the top of the dam!
Even more interesting was seeing all of these little fishes in the water.
Then my husband spotted this huge fish that swam out from under the concrete structure. I'm guessing it is a carp as I've heard they are often seen in this area.
This is on the structure and it made me wonder what the highest level that the water has ever reached here.
We cautiously walked down to the other side of the dam. Usually the photos I get of this side are from a moving vehicle.
While walking down the road here I couldn't help but think about my brother who was killed in 2019 by someone driving under the influence. I've been thinking about him a lot lately along with my parents. Just then this beautiful Cardinal flew down and perched on the guardrail. I had to take the photo from a little distance as there was a bend in the road there and it probably wasn't the safest spot to be. I like to think it was a sign and hello from them.
After that my husband and I headed back to the vehicle. From there we drove over the bridge to the other side of Loch Raven Reservoir where we spent a little time by the waters edge but those photos will be for another time. Till then here are two last photos from the "Dam" area. 🙂
Thank you @tattoodjay for #wednesdaywalk!
