7 Unspoken Things Successful People Do

I guess you may be thinking that this is another post that deals with habits and organization. Yes, if you are wondering what unspoken things successful people do, habits and organization would be an important aspect of success.

However, today we are looking at what successful people do to help them succeed that are mostly unspoken. It is these small yet powerful differences that help them win even when the odds are against them.

  1. Forgive themselves: Successful people know that everything is not going to go perfectly. They also know that they are not perfect. Successful people make bad decisions, have meltdowns and have bad ideas. However, they don’t focus on the terrible things they did or how they screwed up. Instead, they forgive themselves quickly and move forward.

  2. Hire key talent: You’d think this would be easy. Hiring key people is more difficult than you might imagine. Good key workers know that they are good workers. They know when they walk in your office that they can make a difference for your company. However, it doesn’t mean key talent wants to work for you. Successful people make it so you want to work for them. You’re proud to work for them. They can hire and keep key talent.

  3. Improve strategies: Successful people understand what strategy truly is and how to use this powerful tool to help them win. They also understand that no single strategy lasts forever. Strategies need continual improvement and updating. Technology and innovations introduce possibilities and opportunities that may not have been available previously. This often impacts the current company strategy. Successful people embrace these opportunities and change strategies early in the game if needed.

  4. Listen: Successful people listen to people talk. They listen, listen and then listen some more. They look for ideas by listening. They spend time observing and listening to speakers, radio shows, workers and the general public. Social media is another way to listen, because out of that listening may come a million-dollar idea.

  5. Focus: Successful people have learned or intuitively know the art of focus. Bringing an idea into manifestation in a business requires focus. The ability to keep your attention on a project despite being bored, overwhelmed, not confident or angry is essential. Focus is a way of bypassing things that might take you out of the game. Aligning yourself with your goals helps you to push through until you succeed.

  6. Educate themselves: Successful people continue to educate themselves in multiple ways on a daily basis. From reading, to video, to radio and to the internet, successful people use all forms of continuing education to keep them on top of their game.

  7. Keep improving daily: Successful people keep improving a little bit each day, because they take an everyday action toward their goal. It’s not about getting it perfect and right. It’s the 10,000 hours process that creates mastery. It is about starting and improving every day, until you achieve the outcome you desire!

Success is a journey and a practice. It’s like batting practice in many ways. You have got to get up to bat over and over again to get good at it. With each swing and a miss, you forgive yourself, focus, improve your strategies, maybe even hire a coach and listen to his instructions. You educate yourself and keep improving daily until your batting average goes high enough that you hit one out of the park. Batter up!
