A Misty Stroll Through Portland, Maine

I miss the clouds and mist near the bay in Portland, Maine. That; combined with the brick and stone architecture; gives the place an old, mysterious feeling.

Untold stories whisper from the windows of old brick buildings; built after fire took out almost all the wooden structures.

New ideas peak out from the old frames of windows and doors.

I am loving the post-apocalyptic Maine fashions. They are made for real life now; not science fiction. I felt for a minute like I was in the last city standing.

Portland has so many fascinating little nooks and crannies. I appreciate it more after being away from it so long.

I stopped for a quick decaf and a cookie.

And later I had a pause at Longfellow's Garden.

A small city; but it is somehow quite impressive to me; the perfect setting for a story. Part of the Stephen King film; "The Mist" was filmed here.

On the way home I passed by "Matthew's" ; the only bar in Portland I was genuinely frightened of walking buy. Recently there has been a bit of drama about Proud Boys meeting there.

And then I walked back to State street to catch my ride to Damariscotta.
