welcome to the ninth part of our round trip on the Island of Corsica which takes us to the Asco valley.

willkommen zum neunten Teil unserer Rundreise über die Insel Korsika, welche uns in das Asco-Tal führt.
We drove from our apartment in Lama via the D147 to the Asco Valley, which leads to the foot of the highest mountain of Corsica, the Monte Cinto.
Wir fuhren von unserer Ferienwohnung in Lama über die D147 ins Asco-Tal, welches bis zum Fuß des höchsten Berges von Korsika führt, dem Monte Cinto.
The 33km long and very winding road is popular with cyclists and motorcyclists.
Die 33km lange und sehr kurvige Straße ist beliebt bei Radlern und Motorradfahrern.
Sometimes the road leads very close to rocks. It's recommended not to hit them with the rental car.
Manchmal führt die Straße sehr nah an Felsen entlang, da sollte man mit dem Mietwagen besser nicht anstoßen.
Halfway there is the town of Asco, after which the valley is named.
Auf halber Strecke befindet sich die Ortschaft Asco, nach der das Tal benannt ist.

Monte Cinto, the highest mountain of Corsica (2706 meter).
Wir näheren uns dem Monte Cinto, dem mit 2706 Metern höchsten Berg von Korsika.

Instead to watch the donkey I prefered to make photos of the landscape.
Statt dem Esel habe ich mir lieber die Landschaft angeschaut.

We drove to the Refuge Asco-Stagnu at the end of the valley and parked in the large parking lot. From there we started a short hike.
Wir fuhren weiter bis zum Refuge Asco-Stagnu am Ende des Tals und parkten auf dem großen Parkplatz. Von dort aus starteten wir eine kurze Wanderung.
We had to climb over fallen trees.
Der Weg führte sprichwörtlich über Stock und Stein.
The Refuge Asco-Stagnu is one of the many accommodations direct on the GR20 long-distance trail that runs through Corsica.
Das Refuge Asco-Stagnu ist eine der vielen Unterkünfte direkt am Weitwanderweg GR20, der sich durch ganz Korsika zieht.
