Hidden Treasure in the South of Bali - Melasti Beach

Since 30 days in Bali was not enough for our sea-loving souls, my boyfriend and I had to extend our visa and chose to do it in the immigration office in Nusa Dua instead of the busy chaotic city of Denpasar. This way we could combine bureaucracy with pleasure and make a fun road trip out of it.

A nomadic lifestyle can be amazing and stressful at the same time - for example when you have to take care of your visa which tends to take much more time than expected.

This time we got real lucky and needed to spend only about 15 minutes in the immigration office before it was our turn. Afterwards we stormed outside, exchanged our conservative long trousers for lazy beach clothes and headed towards the sea. Today‘s destination was Melasti Beach and the ride out there was absolutely worth it.

Feet in the bright sand, gazing at crystal clear water

The long beach stretch laid secluded behind a cliff, an stony flight of stairs leading down towards the smell of the ocean. It was quite a long way down and I already had to think about the fact that every time you go down, at some point you have to go up again. But the view was exceptional, making it difficult to concentrate on the path in front of me. The water is very shallow at Melasti beach and the ocean ground covered with coral reefs, best seen from above when the sunlight shines directly onto the surface. Although the big waves were breaking far out in the sea, the current was very strong and a refreshing bath in the shallow water already catapulted me ten meters to the other side in a matter of some minutes.

Between tranquility and monkey business

Thankfully, we arrived there very early and only a single woman selling her jewelry shared the bright sandy beach with us. After a while other travelers came to enjoy this beautiful piece of nature, but it never became really crowded there, since most of the tourists are working on their sun tan and surfing skills at the beaches around Canggu with its more convenient shops and restaurants. After returning to our motorbike, we were surprised to find little dusty handprints on it - the local monkey seemed to have their fun playing on our vehicle, even rearranging our mirrors. That‘s wildlife, the real Bali vibes!

So whenever you are in Bali and have to go to the immigration office for staying a little longer in paradise, why not combine it with a roadtrip to one of Nusa Dua's beaches? You will be far away from the crowds and experience some stunning white beaches along the clear ocean water - that‘s why I love the tropics.

Have a wonderful day and a fruitful journey ahead!
